This poem was written in response to Hitler's rise to power. Hitler took guns from citizens and they could not fight back.
In District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), the Supreme Court affirmed for the first time that the right belongs to individuals, for self-defense in the home, while also including, as dicta, that the right is not unlimited and does not preclude the existence of certain long-standing prohibitions such as those forbidding "the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill" or restrictions on "the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons." State and local governments are limited to the same extent as the federal government from infringing upon this right.

To Whom It May Concern:
Your company has made the decision to stop selling handgun and short-barrel rifle ammunition. In addition, you have requested that customers not openly carry firearms in its stores, even where state laws allow it.
So many of your customers are gun owners and good citizens. The recent spate of shootings was committed by criminals. Yes, criminals - people who do not follow the law. Do you really think that by not selling ammunition and requesting that customers do not carry guns will stop gun crime? A criminal is a bad person who will get hold of weapons and ammunition illegally regardless of any law that is passed and put into practice. I am one of those customers and I am a good citizen who is extremely upset by your recent decision.
In addition, do you really think that those people who have asked you to do this really shop at Walmart? Kroger? Remember, THEY called us "smelly hillbilly Walmart shoppers." THEY do not even walk into your stores, yet you listen to them and not to me, one of those smelly, hillbilly Walmart shoppers.
I am asking you to reconsider and remember who your customer base is. Not selling ammunition or not allowing people to carry in your stores will not, LET ME REPEAT, will not stop gun crimes, committed by bad people. Guns do not kill people. Bad people with guns kill people.
